Laurita Alomassor, Executive Director

Laurita worked as a scientist in the federal sector for the past 20 years, where she recognized the lack of diversity, inclusion and equity in STEM. She founded STEMBrains to encourage young minorities to become leaders in STEM careers.

She has led a variety of projects focused on geographical information systems analysis, physical oceanography, strategic planning and environmental policy. In 2019, Laurita received a Technology All Stars Award at the Women of Color in STEM Conference. She is also honored for her scientific contributions at the “Inspiring Minds: African Americans in Science and Technology,” a permanent exhibit in the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, MI.

As a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) advocate, Laurita frequently speaks at K-12 schools, and often visits her home state of Mississippi to discuss career advice and opportunities with students.
